Word 4 the Week
As a deer longs for flowing streams,
So my soul longs for you, O God.
Psalm 42:1
It’s HOT in the Bluegrass. Low 90’s and little let up in sight. The grass is withering, trees starting to shed some leaves (much too soon), gardens are drying up, and humans are grumbling (at least this human).
As one person said a couple of weeks ago, “I’m tired of staying inside my house to remain cooler and more comfortable!” All of creation is longing for cool breezes and refreshing evenings.
We are longing for refreshment and renewal.
So too, our souls long for refreshment.
We are all aware of those days and times when our lives are parched and dry, in need of refreshment. We know when our spirits long for God to show up and give us the cool waters of God’s grace. We struggle with direction and purpose, wandering around as though we were in a desert alone. We are eager and desire God’s presence.
Where do we go with this longing? What to do while parched and dry?
We wait… and wait… and wait… with Jesus and his promise, “Lo, I am with you always, even to the ends of the world”.
Dear student, in the parched days of your lives, listen to Jesus presence and promise. It is for you today, tomorrow, and all of your tomorrows. Amen
Please pray with me; Water of Life, when these student’s spirits are dry and parched, give them your thirst quenching promises and presence. As their lives continue to unfold on this campus, encourage them through your Spirit Holy to be faith-filled and nourished by your love. Amen
